New additions to the Yauyos Quechua Collection of Aviva Shimelman

Among the additions recently made to AILLA’s collections is a large expansion of the Yauyos Quechua Collection of Aviva Shimelman, a rich collection of materials about the speakers of Peru’s Yauyos Quechua language. This expansion includes over 34 hours of audio, 8 hours of video, and 2700 pages of digital texts. Many of these recordings are accompanied by time-aligned transcriptions and translations into Spanish, and a number of the resources include a grammar, lexicon, and collections of transcribed texts, making this collection a thorough documentation of this language.

Yauyos Quechua is a highly differentiated language with many distinct dialects, and the recent addition expands the coverage of this collection to include the Yauyos Quechua of 9 new communities not represented earlier in the collection and greatly expands the materials from 5 communities already represented in the materials.
