2017 - First AILLA Archive-a-thon

The Archive of the Indigenous Languages of Latin America

The first AILLA Archive-a-thon will be held October 27 & 29, 2017, at the University of Texas at Austin in conjunction with the eighth Conference on Indigenous Languages of Latin America (CILLA-VIII).

The Archive-a-thon will consist of two events:

  1. A mini-course on the use of our new self-deposit tools on Friday, October 27, and
  2. A self-depositing practicum on Sunday, October 29.
Both events are free, but space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Participants at the Sunday practicum must also attend the Friday mini-course and submit additional forms and paperwork to AILLA beforehand.

Self-depositing Mini-course, Friday, October 27, 2:00-4:00pm,
Julius Glickman Conference Center, CLA 1.302D

  • Get a look at AILLA's new website and learn how you can use our self-depositing tool to build and manage your own collection.
  • Attendees will build a sample collection on the test site using materials provided by AILLA, and will receive instruction on building resources, adding media to resources, updating metadata, and other ways that they can manage their collections.
  • Attendees must bring their own laptop to the course.
  • Attendees must pre-register by August 1.

Self-depositing Practicum, Sunday, October 29, 9:30am to 12:30pm,
Julius Glickman Conference Center, CLA 1.302D

  • Note that this practicum will take place the day after the CILLA conference ends.
  • Breakfast included for registered participants.
  • Begin to build your own collection on the actual AILLA website using your own materials!
  • Attendees will get hands-on experience in building the first resources of their AILLA collections under the supervision of AILLA staff.
  • Attendees must have attended the Friday Mini-course and must bring their own computer to the practicum.
  • Attendees must pre-register by August 1.
  • Attendees must submit all required paperwork to AILLA by September 1. Required paperwork includes (1) the AILLA Depositor License Agreement, (2) the AILLA Self-depositor Agreement, and (3) the AILLA Metadata Spreadsheet. The forms and instructions will be emailed to attendees after they preregister.
