| Description | In December of 2001, Alfonso Torres Rodríguez y Laura Rodríguez Cano found three Zapotec documents of the 18th century in the Archive of the Executive Power of the state of Oaxaca. These documents are from the town of San Antonio, near Santo Domingo Ocotlan under Oaxaca's jurisdiction. The Archive contains a total of 34 files which includes 44 distinct texts; among them the three texts in Zapotec. Since February of 2002, we started analyzing and translating the Zapotec texts in the Colonial Zapotec seminar led by Thomas Smith Stark. This seminar is part of the Zapotec Language course program of Meso-american Studies at the School of Philosophy and Literature and the Institute of Philosophical Investigations in the National Autonomous University of Mexico. The following analysis and translation are the result of these texts. |
