DescriptionIn this paper, the author will examine data from a number of Mayan languages dealing with the expression of subjunctive- like meanings primarily among intransitive verbs. It will be seen that the suffixes which are used in the various languages are very similar and probably have developed from a common ancestor. He will also attempt to specify the contexts in which the Proto-Mayan (PM) suffix was used , based on the contexts in which the attested suffixes occur.
