DescriptionYuhup is a group of about 500 people located in the border between Colombia and Brazil, in the watershed areas between the Tiquié and Apaporis rivers. In Colombia, there are around 200 Yuhup. They live in the south of the Vaupés Department, spread along the Apaporis river and some of its tributaries: Taraira, Jotabeyá and Ugá (Mahecha et al., 2000b: 134). Although they are part of the cultural and linguistic complex of people with nomadic tradition of the Northwest Amazon region, Yuhup people are nowadays sedentary.
