Description | This bundle consist of eight texts of various themes: 1) a description of how people asked for the hand of a prospective wife, 2) married life, wedding ceremonies and the types of advice parents give to their children who are going to wed, 3) advice for how to care for babies and types of work people did before, 4) the economy of the house, at what point women begin to work at home and community life before there was a road, 5) a talk about the stewardship festivals ('mayordomía') and how people would obtain the necessary items for this important festival, 6) talk about where and why people light candles, 7) more discussion about the importance of candles and community processions, discussion about the Grinding Stone 'La Piedra de Metate' and the armadillo stone in Cerro Armadillo, 8) a talk about important religious places in the area and how the community was before the war of the 1950's. This text was recorded in the east room downstairs inside of Rufino Quintas López's house. Recorded with a Tascam HD-P2 Solid state field recorder and Shure SM10A Head-worn Microphones. |
