DescriptionThis recording was made in Cruz Pilar, Tenejapa. The participants in this event are residents of that community. The activity consists of performing a prayer about "slajinel yo'tan Angel" (asking pardon of the angel). The prayer is said by a gentleman from Ch'ixtontik, Tenejapa, who asks pardon by means of a speech with offerings like candles, incense, liquor and soft drinks. The Angel is a place where the people of this community go to perform a prayer for water and other things. After the prayer they perform a traditional dance to consecrate the sacred place. The invitation to film was given by Miguel Sántiz Girón, musician.
