DescriptionThis video was made by invitation of Sr. Domingo Sántiz Gómez (a member of the association Xmuxuk' Balumilal of Oxchuc), to document the burning of a harvested field "chik'majel" and the sowing of corn and "awal" beans. This all takes place on his land and in his house located in the community of Tejk'abal Ch'en, Oxchuc. He was interviewed by María de Jesús Gómez K'ulub about the burning of the field and the meaning that this has. Later they begain to shuck and shell the corn and gather up the kernels. Sr. Domingo's wife chats about the types of bean seeds and of corn that they used to sow in their fields.
