DescriptionFull name: Joking interactions during dressing of Spanish Lady at the house of the Ensign-Bearer of Saint Laurence.
On one of the days leading up to the fiesta of Saint Sebastian, the two men who served as Ensign-Bearers of Saint Lawrence the previous year put on the costumes they will wear as Spanish Ladies during the fiesta itself. The recording of this dressing event documents the joking that occurs about the role one of the Ensign-Bearers will play as a female-impersonator. See Bricker (1973:Chapter 3) for a description of the Spanish Ladies.
