DescriptionMany of the cargoholders change office on New Year's Day. The ones who have just left office reappear during the fiesta of Saint Sebastian (19-22 January). The ones on the lower levels of the cargo system (Stewards, Constables, and Ensign-Bearers) form a group known as the Junior Entertainers. Some of them are costumed as Blackmen, others as Lacandons, and still others as Spanish Mosses and Feathered Serpents. They visit the homes of the newly installed cargoholders during the fiesta, where they joke with each other and other people present in the houses (including the anthropologist). See Bricker (1973: Chapter 3) for a description of the ritual humor at this fiesta.
