DescriptionSubgenre: religious dances.
This is the complete recording of Mimixtih, the Danza de los Pescados of Oapan. The entire troupe includes 6 pairs of dancers. Included are an A:ketspalin (alligator), Xo:wi:lin (catfish), and Xino:lah (a man dressed as a woman, she is the second dancer from the front on the right line). Cirino Esteva learned this dance from his father, Eligio Esteva. Previously I had recorded a shortened and commentated version of this dance. The final part of the dance (track 7) includes a section in which the fisherman catch fish, count them, and then do battle with the A:ketspalin.
