Murankïnëto': first phase of the initiation of male children.
Instrumental music and vocal expressions recorded during the fiesta of the Murankïnëto', the first phase of the initiation of male children between 6 and 8 years old, that always begins at night and lasts until the following evening. In this fiesta, three types of instruments are used: the pan flutes or zapoña, called are're', at the beginning of the fiesta in the night; later the clarinets (karamataimë-variant-aramataimë-synonomous with punkowa in some southern communities) that are always played in duet-male clarinet and female clarinet-shorter at various moments of the celebration. The musicians, always men, can play them seated or dancing in squares with the women. At the end of the fiesta, they also perform the piercing of the ears (panapëto') of the very young boys.
