Description | The Makú numbered about 200 in 1826. Located in the upper Uraricuéra River (Territorio Federal de Roraima, Brazil). In 1959 there were only three speakers left (one man, 45, his sister, 50, and his younger sister, 35). They lived in the lower Uraricuéra River with the Makushi (Carib) in the village of Bu9uerao. By 1990 the last Makú speakers were all dead. |
