This performance is Justo Jacanamijoy's simulation of a sequence of wedding speeches that occur at traditional wedding ceremonies, in a speech event known as el perdon del matrimonio, "the wedding pardon". This event features exchanges of words between the father of the groom, the father of the bride, and the groom, and it culminates in the Catholic blessing administered by the father of the groom to his son. The segment spoken in the audio recording is a version of just one portion of this speech event, the blessing of the groom. |
