| Description | This collection contains materials related to the Project for the Documentation of the Languages of MesoAmerica (PDLMA) which was a large-scale effort to document many of the languages of southern Mexico. From 1993 until 2010, the PDLMA (which went by different names in its earliest and latest iterations) functioned by bringing together speakers of indigenous Mesoamerican languages with academic linguists for summer field sessions in various locations, including Fortín de las Flores, Veracruz; Catemaco, Veracruz; Oaxaca City, Oaxaca; and San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Researchers' activities were guided and supervised by Kaufman and other PDLMA personnel, and occasionally, materials were recorded in the speakers' home communities. The researcher(s) and the year(s) that each language was studied are given below:
The contents of this collection include the following numbers of folders and media files for each of the languages listed below. Note that folders and files can be labeled with more than one language. Mayan languages:

- Elicitation tools used in the PDLMA
- This resource includes all the prompts (or a reference to the prompts) used by the researchers during the project. Lopez and Austin body parts: used for eliciting body parts (see reference section). Juff's prompts: This material was created by Alan Juff (copyrights to Alan Juff) who was a linguist at the University of Pittsburg and a colleague of Terrence Kaufman. It was created to test whether second language learners of English were able to call forth the right English words for the situation on picture. The researchers at the PDLMA used this material to elicit emotional states. Bouquiaux questionnaire: (see reference section). - Surveys collected in Catemaco, Veracruz, Mexico. Benigno Robles Reyes designed the questionnaire in consultation with Terrence Kaufman. Benigno administered the questionnaire to many languages. Then each researcher would review the data, correct it and was supposed to enter it in a database but that did not always happen. The reason why there is 2010 on the documents is because Benigno probably wanted to produce some kind of report of the data collected over the period of the project funded by INALI. The final year of project was 2010. INALI funded it from 2008-2010 (This description is a transcript from p.c with TK in January 2017). Julian: Sayula Popoluca.
