Description | This collection contains Hup language materials, recorded from 2000 to the present. Most materials are from the Middle Tiquié River, primarily the villages of Tat Dëh / Taracua Igarapé and Barreira Alta. A few speakers from other communities of the Tiquié River are also represented, including Umari Norte of the upper Tiquié and Cabari do Japu. |

- Two audio cassettes recorded in 2000 by Patience Epps. Contents: Epps-02A.wav -- Patience Epps records a story told by Amérigo, captain of Tarkwa Igarapé, 21 years old. He speaks Hupdë, a bit of Portuguese, and Tucano. He then tells the story in Portuguese, but stops soon after beginning. At 3:20 Manuel Barbosa gives a loose translation of the story into Portuguese. Epps-02B.wav -- Patience Epps elicits vocabulary focused on minimal pairs for vowel nasalization. Epps-03A.wav -- Patience Epps elicits vocabulary and grammar from Teresa Monteiro. E.g "canoa", "sua canoa", "sua canoa é grande", "sua canoa é grande é bem feito", etc. Nearer the end of the recording there appear to be other speakers and other recordings. Epps-03B.wav -- Patience Epps records a text by Paulo. He begins in Portuguese, and then repeats himself in Hup. At 5:09 a new elicitation recording begins at a much lower volume. Around 16:42 it seems the microphone is moved closer to the speaker and the recording volume is increased., Dos casetes de audio grabado en 2000 por Patience Epps.
