Description | The speech that is given is for the reception of positions that are given to persons indicated to watch over territory. Before handing over the scepters, first they pass it over the ritual and then they give it to the person. In this process, one of the gentlemen that did not know if he was going to have a position was surprised because they handed him his scepter. It is he who speaks of the respect of the indigenous mayor at the end of the speech. They announce the importance of the snake, its meaning among the scepters that exist in the municipality, and what work it performed with our Ixil grandparents. |
