DescriptionFull title: Joking interactions during visit of Senior Entertainers at house of the Ensign-Bearer of the Holy Cross.
Many of the cargoholders change office on New Year's Day. The ones who have just left office reappear during the fiesta of Saint Sebastian (19-22 January). The ones on the upper levels of the cargo system (Alcaldes, Prefects, and Ensign-Bearers) form a group known as the Senior Entertainers. Some of them are costumed as Spanish Gentlemen and Ladies and others as White Heads or Montezumas. They visit the homes of the newly installed cargoholders during the fiesta, where they joke with each other and other people present in the houses. See Bricker (1973: Chapter 3) for a description of the ritual humor at this fiesta.
