DescriptionFull title: Joking interactions during visit of Grandfathers and Grandmothers at house of the Ensign-Bearer of the Holy Cross.

Beginning on Christmas Eve (24 December) and lasting through Epiphany (6 January), men costumed as Grandfathers, Grandmothers, Angels, and a Bull perform humorous rituals in several places in Zinacantan Center, including the Church of Saint Lawrence and the homes of cargoholders. The recording documents their performance in the home of the Ensign-Bearer of the Holy Cross on Epiphany in 1969. See Bricker (1973: Chapter 2) for a description of these rituals.
