DescriptionThis is a local folktale about a woman who didn’t care for her children and so they always died. When she got older, she stopped having children and she liked to play with the children of other women. One day she became a bird, flew away, and never returned. Everyone said she had been punished. The bird always flew over the children. The ancestors painted the tip of the nose of their children with ash when they saw the bird flying over head so that the bird would not take away their childrens’ soul.

The resource consists of a recording (I001) of 6:40 minutes: 3:52 minutes of Iquito and about 3 minutes of the Spanish translation, a document (I002) containing an interlinearized version of the tale, and a document (I003) containing the original Iquito and accompanying Spanish translation, and the other is interlinearized.
