| Description | 'The Cicada and The Agouti' is classified as a non-mythological narration, in which, like other stories of this type, a clearly disadvantaged species manages to outsmart his rival by means of an ingenious trick (Margery Peña and Rodríquez Atencio, 1992). This recording is one in a series made in 1988 by Francisco Rodríguez Antencio, who immigrated to Costa Rica from Panama in 1980. There are approximately 1,500 native Bocotás living in Costa Rica and the Veraquas, Bocas del Toro and Chiriquí provinces of Panama. The dialect of Bocotá heard here is of Chiriquí-.
