Technical Description | Plantains for a feast as part of the Inna ceremony to honor of young girls becoming women. The beginning of the ceremony starts when a father announces to the others in the gathering house that his daughter has reached the age of puberty and that it is time to celebration. Men go out into the jungle to gather sugar cane for drinking and plantains for eating. When the sugar cane juice runs out, they switch to the "hard stuff," as Sherzer observed, typically rum. |
