Technical Description | One man sitting outside of the Mulatuppu gathering house making a musila, pulling the now nylon rope between two toes. The Kuna traditionally made these bags with vines from the jungle, but they are sometimes also made with nylon. Not every man in Mulatuppu knew how to make baskets. Something attracted people to learning how to make baskets - either because they are beautiful works of art, or because they are functional. Those who make baskets are proud of their ability to make something that is both beautiful, practical, and now, traditional. |
