| Technical Description | Three men in the Mulatuppu gathering house. The man on the right is making a musila, pulling the now nylon rope between two toes. They used to make these with vines from the jungle, but these days they're made with nylon. It would be a safe assumption that the two men on the left do not know how to make baskets. Something attracted people to learning how to make baskets - either because they are beautiful works of art, or because they are functional. Those who make baskets are proud of their ability to make something that is both beautiful, practical, and now, traditional. File originated from a Kodak picture CD named "1767" that was converted from film negatives in 1993. |
